Communicating with people is part of everyday life. No matter who, what, when, where and why, there is always going to be some type of communication. I spoke with many different people during this assignment, and honestly I never thought of how to use communication skills with that certain person. What I actually did was I looked back at various conversations with people that I thought were important to me and that had certain significant meaning. During the rest of this assignment, I will describe who I talked with and exactly why I chose this person to have a conversation with. On October 11, 1998, I paged somebody that I am really becoming close with, lets call her "Emily". The reason I contacted her is because I really was anxious to get to know her better, and I thought she might want to go see a movie with me or something. When she called me back, we ended up getting into a really deep conversation that lasted almost 2 hours. I can't even begin to tell you how many different topics we embarked on. They ranged from personal to dramatic to comical subjects that we both related to in some way shape or form. The reason I selected this person is because she and I have many common traits, and communicating with her isn't difficult.
It is amazing how much easier it is to communicate with people if you know them and have similar characteristics.
Throughout the entire assignment, I didn't feel comfortable keeping a journal, only because so many things can change in your mind. One minute a certain idea can seem so good that you write it down for future reference, then later you go back and look at it and realize that it wasn't such a good idea after all. I am more of a spur of the moment person, always coming up with new ideas and different approaches towards things.
