The outside activity that I attended was the NIU football game. This semester because of the job that I have, as NIU security event staff, I am required to attend every home football game. The first couple of games I was unable to see the actual game but I did get a chance to see the excitement and enthusiasm of all the students, alumni, and fans of the NIU huskies. I saw some interesting people at the game I even saw some of my friends going into the game. It didn't matter though because they all had one common purpose for being there, football, whether they were huskie fans or if they were cheering for the opposing team. After being outside of the games and seeing the excitement firsthand, I wanted to be inside where all the real excitement was. Once inside the stadium I could see why the NIU huskies were on a winning streak at home. There were thousands of fans cheering and proudly wearing husky colors and tee shirts. Some fans proudly displayed homemade signs and yet some fans showed their love with face and body paint. This was awesome. With all the excitement of the game, you cannot help but to be full of energy and enthusiasm about football. I think that every student should attend NIU sports events. One of the main reasons I think that every student should attend sports events is because there are free, with a student ID. The second reason is that it is a great way to show school spirit. Going to NIU football games also gives students something to do, especially since there is not a lot to do in Dekalb. I really enjoyed going to the NIU football game I think it's a valuable experience for all those involved, it is also a fun experience to say the least.
