The poem "Icarus" was composed in 1924 by an American poet named Edward Field. It discusses, like other poems concerning Icarus, about the often uncaring nature of humans. Field illustrates this point by the first line of this poem. It speaks of the drowning of Icarus and the suspicious feathers found surrounding his body, which would lead others to believe that what occurred, was more than the usual drowning. It says that "So the report filed and forgotten in the archives read simply 'Drowned,' but it was wrong." Icarus was said to have swum to a town nearby and had begun to restart a normal life. However, this aspect of normality was only a sight conceived by his neighbors. In hiding, Icarus would day after day attempt to rebuild his wings and would eventually fail miserably. The main aspect in this poem is of heroic behavior. Icarus should be deemed a hero simply for his perseverance in his countless attempts to rebuild his wings and succeed in his dream of flying a!
             gain. However, in the last line, Icarus' aspirations continue to be stifled because of his failure to rebuild his wings and he is forced to lead a life of normality in the eyes of his town.
             "Icarus" shows how suburban America can alter a person's view on their talents. Icarus was brilliant and could have achieve many goal, yet because he was scared of what "America," of that time, would think. It makes us wonder how many aspiring "Icarus'" there are today--hiding in their basements trying to fly.
             The poem "Musee des Beaux Arts" was written between the years of 1907-1973 by an Englishman named W.H. Auden.
