Questionable the best place on earth
And so it was decided. One fine afternoon this past summer all my friends and I decided to drop everything: jobs, girlfriends, and all responsibilities and take a road trip to the greatest place on earth for an eighteen year old: Montreal. It was a place that all of us had heard many wonderful stories of but had never voyaged to. A place where we could roam free of any American drinking restrictions and the abundant burlesque houses that lit of the street like the Christmas tree lights in my living room on Christmas eve. I felt like a kid again. It would be the time of our lives to go to this forbidden and unknown city called Montreal.
The day began as most typical warm, muggy summer days in August do. My friends and I were sitting around contemplating what to do for one our last weekends together before we went our separate ways to different colleges. We thought of all these different trips we could take together but none of them seem to be a trip worthy of our cause. We thought of an overnight drunken trip to the ocean, a drunken weekend at our friends lake house, or maybe a strip club or two. Then out of the blue came the single best idea I have ever heard come from any of my friends. " Let's go to Montreal" said Tom. All of our friend's eyes lit up and their mouths watered for the cool, refreshing, relaxing taste of Canadian beer.
So there we were on the open road headed for the fantastically underrated country that we call Canada. I was riding shotgun in my friend Mike Lianza's eighty-nine Volvo wagon. There were four other cars beside ours filled with all my friends, racing up highway 89 closing in on the Canadian border. My friends and I are the most unique group of people ever to be united as one.
