The data system my auto glass company uses is called Mainstreet. This system is used by many incorporated glass companies. The program helps multiple glass companies communicate with each other. The software enables us to do everything for our business needs.
             Mainstreet software is designed specifically for auto glass shop needs. It is set-up to allow the user to type in the customer information and then select the insurance company. It then brings up the data for that specific company. The program will detail each insurance companies rules and regulations of billing methods. This can save a great deal of time with not having to make phone calls to find out about insurance discounts and billing information. Some insurance companies require an invoice to be mailed to a specific location and this program will let us know.
             All insurance companies require a VIN number to be on every invoice sent to them. The software allows us to make sure we are using the correct VIN number for the vehicle entered. If the wrong number is entered into the system, it will kick back and tell me the VIN is invalid and then tell me why. The software also has information on every year make and model of foreign and domestic vehicles available. If you type in the year and make of a vehicle it will list all the models available that year.
             Mainstreet also has a memory of all data that has been entered in the system. If we have done business with a customer in the past, all the information will be retrieved when their home phone number is entered into the computer. The software program also has a search engine for customers. A customers information can be retrieved by phone number, vin number, last name or first name and also by insurance claim number.
             At the end of every business day, all the data entered that day is downloaded to the corporate office through Mainstreet. This enable headquarters to view our sales and commissions. If the...
