My Grandmother

             My grandmother's name is Ada C. At 82 years old, she is still working and driving herself wherever she needs to go, unless it is late in the evening or raining. She works at home as a tailor making drapes. She has been making drapes for as long as I can remember. She never got her driver's license until several years after her husband passed away. I can remember the day that she came home from getting her driver's license as if it was yesterday. She pulled in to her driveway with this big smile on her face and I knew right then that she had gotten her license.
             Until recently, she has never looked her age. I would say that because of the things on her mind lately, she is starting to look her age. She, like all elderly, is gray haired who stands only five foot two inches tall. She is just starting to get all the wrinkles that the elderly get.
             Until a few weeks ago, she was in great health for her age. While working in her yard, she tried to lift a bag of topsoil and fractured a disc in her back. Now she is having a hard time getting around. I know she will not let this keep her down for very long. Several years ago, she fell while walking from her car to work and broke her kneecap in half. After several months of being down, she was right back doing the things that she loved.
             If it were not for my grandmother, I would not be the person that I am today. She has played a big role in my life. She is the one that-who cared for me the most growing up. Whenever I needed anything, I knew that I could always go to her.
             I remember her giving me my first car, a 1979 Ford Mustang. She had that car for nine years before giving it to me. When she gave me the car, it only had fifty thousand mile on it.
