             The third module of Process Elements presented me with a variety of content and activities that focused on useful learning techniques. This allowed me to extend my understanding of effective information-search and learning strategies. Due to my regular participation in online conferencing, in addition to the knowledge from the reading material of Process Elements and my experience from other courses, I have developed a good understanding about new research skills, about my own concept of learning and the technique of concept mapping, about how to proficiently memorize information, and about my own learning style and strategies.
             The first thing that I have learned during this module of Process Elements is how to effectively conduct online research. Unit 1 presented me with a variety of search strategies, which proved useful during the activity of " McLuhan's Research Challenge". Conducting research on search engines, and online databases, I achieved useful results for my "Team's Working Bibliography" by using "Boolean Operators" in my search terms. (SFU, 2002) I also learned that while performing online research I should "Know when to use upper case versus lower case", "experiment with different search terms", " be as specific as possible" and "use more than one search tool". (SFU Surrey, 2002)
             Another thing that I learned about while carrying out the "McLuhan's Research Challenge", was proper APA citing. I thought that I was aware of how to properly reference a source, but during Unit 1 I discovered that there are different ways of citing different kinds of resources. For example, a book is cited differently than an online article.
