Legalizing Marijuana

             Hemp is among the oldest industries on the planet,
             going back more than 10,000 years to the beginnings of
             pottery. The Columbia History of the World states that the
             oldest relic of human industry is a bit of hemp fabric
             dating back to approximately 8,000 BC (Forreal.org). Some
             of the U.S. presidents even grew it on there farms. George
             Washington said it was the best plant made because it could
             be used for so many things. Thomas Jefferson grew hemp on
             his farm also. Washington and Jefferson both agreed that
             hemp was a useful product. In 1937, congress passed the
             Marijuana Tax Act which put the product of hemp on lock
             The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor which started World
             War II. Also, it stopped foreign trade which included
             "manilla hemp" fiber from the Phillipines. The U.S.
             government formed War Hemp Industries and subsidized hemp
             cultivation. The government encouraged americans to grow
             hemp on there farms. That formed into about a million acres
             of midwest land that were growing hemp. When the war ended
             the government quickly shut these plants down because they
             could trade again. The world forgot about the plant until
             the 1960's which included the hippies era. The government
             is scared of what the hemp plant is capable of. The drug is
             used in so many positive ways and just one bad way. I
             believe marijuana is a useful drug, and helps with many
             problems. Therefore, marijuana should be legalized for
             medical, ecomonic, and the black market.
             The legalization on marijuana can benefit by many
             medical reasons. Medical marijuana, around for nearly 5,000
             years. Marijuana can help improve your appetite. The drug
             mellows cancer patients were they can rest peacefully. A
             study showed that using marijuana in a six month period
