I feel that it can not be apply in every situation. His theories I believe was too simplify especially his Hot and Cool theory. He suggests that Hot media are things that include complete sensory data, such as radio, printed material, photograph and film. But I believe that it can not be use to explain the media such as exist in present day. Before we move any further, it would be wise to mention about Cool media as well. Cool media demand involvement from individual such as telephone, computer games, face to face interactions. Things such as Internet is too advance and would require more than just Hot and Cool theory to explain it. Internet is the way for people to interact which is suppose to be a cool media (according to McLuhan's) but at the same time we are communicating through words, reading the typing from their partner. Which can be say similar to reading a book. Therefore we ca n se that it can be either hot or cool.
Even though I have to agree with his theory in the way that media can effect how we perceive ourselves, other society and the world. Still I do not think that it has the total impact on how we think or how we behave. Maybe to some extend, but definitely not entirely. One of the big factors that I believe determine how we judge the media is the level of education. The higher education a person is the more likely he/she will question it. Even though it can be say that it is partly a result of media, but on the other hand it means that we are not deceive by the message that the media send out.
While the individual with lower level of education they seems to believe the source from media easier. They are more likely to be effected by the power of media. Therese is some example on why I feel that, even though McLuhan's theory may sound reasonable to some extends. But when use to explain present media, somehow it seems to clack a clear-cut explanation. It can not separate clearly to
