Edwin Arlington Robinson and Edgar Lee Masters are both great writers. One of Robinson's works "Richard Cory" depicts a normal man who people admire that commits suicide suddenly one day. "Lucinda Matlock" by Masters, talks about a woman's love and her life. Both of these men's poems have meaning. Edwin Arlington Robinson and Edgar Lee Masters are similar and different in that they both tell little stories of people and Robinson's poems explore the inner self more while Masters expresses the outerself.
These two great poets both tell short instances of people's lives. Masters, "Lucinda Matlock" tells about a woman's life and how she lives it and grows up. It tells about her children and the number of them that died with small details included. He tells of the small tasks she did like spinning, weaving, and other chores but even though this is about a woman's whole life it's similar to Robinson's "Richard Cory" in that "Richard Cory" tells of people's outlook on Richard and the way he presents himself. Masters tells about the woman's life from the inside while Robinson's tells about the man from the outside but they both give specific details about each of their lives. Lucinda Matlock says, "we were married and lived together for seventy years." In "Richard Cory" it says, "he glittered when he walked." As you can see these poems both give specific details even though they're from different views.
Robinson's poems are different in that they're more about the inner self than the outer self. His poems would tell more on people's outlook on their lives and such than their lives itself. Masters poems, on the other hand, talked about people's life itself. Robinson lives people's lives through the way they actually lived it.
