Our Souls Immortal

             Do we have an immortal soul? The point of the matter is that we never questioned the fact as humans in regards to what happens to our souls when we leave this earth. When we die many have wondered will my soul die or live on to some other place. The Bible states that when a person dies, "The spirit itself returns to the True God who gave it." (Ecclesiastes 12:7) Many wonder does God himself take our souls into his own presence. When we look at the meaning of "returns" we think in a physical movement from one place to another. The Christians believe that once the life-force is gone it is restored back to God. The soul "returns to the True God" in the sense that any hope of future life for that person now rests entirely with God.
             Before we can question the fact of whether or not if our soul is immortal or not. We must first define what the soul is. In the Bible, the word is translated "spirit" which basically means "breath". The apostle James for example states: "The body without spirit is dead." (James 2:26) All the breath, or air, in the world cannot revive even one cell. The soul, then, is the invisible life-force the spark of life that keeps the cells and the person alive. This life-force is sustained by breathing. (Job 34:14, 15) We then have to question is the soul only active in humans? The Bible states from the words of Wise King Solomon that humans and animals "all have but one spirit."
             Therefore, when we die our physical life has passed on, but our souls are forever alive. Many believe that these things that we through in our physical bodies, why would our souls not mean anything and just be a waste of space. Buddhist tends to believe that the soul will be reborn in to a new land on earth. Jesus Christ promised that all those who believe in God will be resurrected, or brought back to life.
