             The next scene in the movie is the first fight scene the audience sees. The police are examining the scene of a crime involving two dead Russian mobsters. FBI agent Paul Smecker (Willem Dafoe) is the lead detective in the investigation. After hearing suggestions and theories from lowly Boston PD detectives, Smecker goes on to explain what he thinks (and what really did) happen. After listening to some classical music and examining the scene, Smecker feels he has solved the mystery, but the actual events are not revealed until the brothers bring themselves in and confirm Smecker's suspicions.
