The rush is on, the stores are closing, there's no time left. WAIT get a hold of yourself, 30 minutes and counting. People scurry around with good intentions but no direction. My hands are full; my legs tired and boy do my feet ache. I maneuver my already overwhelmed limbs threw the hordes of last minute shoppers (no doubt as stresses as myself). I have apologize for running into a poor guy who just didn't know to get out of my way. And then I see "IT"! That oh my god I forgot it get "IT" gift. The one my sister had been hinting about for months, the one I all but assured her would be under the tree. Just good luck I suppose that there was one left. And I'm about to save Christmas!
Then it happens, out of the corner of my eye I spot her, she spots me and the race is on, (I can't believe it she's making a break for it!) So now I'm moving as fast as I can, she rounds the corner, I run out into the isle cutting her off and knocking her to the ground.
Victory Sweet Victory, as I look up with my spoils in hand I see people looking at me and then it hits me. I just knocked this woman over! Visibly shaken she takes her defeat hard and tells me a story that would change Holiday shopping forever. You see the bag was for her daughter Jenny. Jenny had recently been diagnosed with cancer and would be making many trips to and from the hospital. She would use it to take her clothing and such. The lady then went on to say that she wanted the bag before but didn't have all the money for it until today. As I hand the bag over I wish her and little Jenny the best of luck and the lady gives me a photo of her sick daughter.
It's Christmas Morning, and there is no Vera Bradley bag under the tree. There's something much better. As she opens her card she looks at me confused. Out falls the photo of Jenny. This strange unfamiliar face looking up at her told a story. Cheryl got her bag
