ng a very hard worker, the first job that Daniel held was to prepare land for planting, and due to his diligence the owner of the farm later made him supervisor of his sawmill. At age nineteen, Morgan had saved up enough money to purchase a wagon and team and began to aid the settlers across the mountain. Little is know about his marriages and his family outside of the little known about his parents, however in 1773 he was married to Abigail Curry and had two daughters Nancy and Betsy. It was around this time that a new crisis had broken out on this new land, the French and Indian War, young Morgan went and enlisted in the British Army.
             General Morgan had a long and distinguished military career; however his passion for violence caused him to be reprimanded many times. To his credit on the other hand, it was his punishment at the hands of the British that caused him to be loved by the men that would eventually be the Virginia 11th infantry, other wise known as the Virginia Rifle Men. At the age of nineteen Morgan's first commission was a mule train driver to supply the British army as they marched out to beat the French and Indians. In 1754, Daniel accompanied the British army was on its way to Fort Duquesne carrying supplies. On the way to the fort the British were brutally defeated and this is where Morgan made his first impression with the army carrying away the wounded. Shortly after the incident Daniel joined the Virginia Rangers, where he too a musket round to the mouth while engaged in combat. In 1756, Daniel faced the first of his several punishments at the hand of the British Army. While taking supplies to Fort Chiswell, Morgan managed to irritate a British Lieutenant who hit Morgan with the flat of his sword.
