I came to Fairmont State College taking my new step into life. I knew that everything I did was now my responsibility and I had to make sure I got done what needed to get done. When I received and assignment I did it. I disciplined myself at first, but then I began to be lazy and procrastinate. I do not have anybody reminding me about why I am here. This experience has opened my eyes. I myself need to really look at the big picture of life and realize that everything I do is accounted for. I will not fail in anything I do and I need to try my hardest. This was now my era to begin a journey as an adult. But I screwed up that mentality and my adulthood had begun on a ruff start.
It was the fourth week into the semester and I woke up in a cold sweat realizing that it was 9:30 a.m. My fitness and wellness class had started at 8:00 a.m. and for the third consecutive time I had missed this class. I rushed to get ready and leave as fast as possible so hopefully I could catch my teacher to talk to him before he left, so I would not get dropped from his class. By the time I got down to my speech class everyone was gone. So I went to all my other classes not paying attention to anything the professors' said because I was worried about what is going to happen with my speech class. That's when I realize how irresponsible I was being. How could I let myself even miss one class, I am a better person then that. I did not realize how hard it was to be responsible.
By the end of the day I was able to talk to my speech professor and thankfully he was a very understanding person. I took responsibility for my actions and I told him I would never miss a day of class again. Ever since then I have not lacked on anything dealing with school. College has been one big learning experience. Every action I have taken and every move I have made has been a major lesson in my journey into an adult hood.
