             When it comes to the department of foreign policy, a lot was done in my term. One thing I did was help make the Permanent Neutrality Treaty for the Panama Canal. In 1904, the senate gave the U.S. authority to build a canal across the Isthmus of Panama. People in Panama didn't like this idea, so they protested, in 1964 we agreed to renegotiate it, and in 1977, we all met and signed a treaty declaring the canal open to people of all nations.
