Social Justice Issue on Immigration

The social justice issue I found was on immigration. I found two articles on this matter, one discussed president Bush's preposition of a temporary work program and the other article was on how people at the Republic convention felt about this issue. Bush states that if an American employer is offering a job that American citizens are not willing to take then a person from another country can fulfill that job. Before the employer can hire someone who is not a citizen they must first make every effort to find an American worker for the job also, an employer cannot hire undocumented aliens. He then states that he will "not give unfair rewards to illegal immigrants in the citizenship process." I feel that if this program comes into being that many immigrants that live in the US will find it difficult to find jobs because many of them are illegal. It will also be harder for people from other countries to come to live and work here. People come here because they feel that they can improve their living conditions and with Bush's proposal it will be so much more difficult for these people. This proposal would affect our society because no one wants to work twelve hour days with little wages, which most immigrants do. Many cities such as New York city depend on immigrants to work for low wages. Immigrants also compromise significant percentages of our military and work force.
