It is so easy to lump the difficulties and inability's in functioning together, and many people devalue the whole person and who they are because of what they are.
             Community isolation, desolation, and not being accepted are categorized together as reasons why autism is a social problem. It only takes one embarrassing episode in the checkout line or at the public park to make the average caretaker of an autistic, want to crawl under a rock. Everytime the worst happens; the impulse to withdraw from public life strengthens. Dealing with rude or clueless remarks from strangers can be hard on both the parents' and children. Persons with autism are not always beneficiaries of the sympathy factor.
