             Background Information on "The Pill"
             Birth control pills are one of the most effective reversible methods of birth control. Little do people know, is that there are many different kinds of pills. There are two basic types of pills- combination pills and progestin-only pills. The only difference between the two is that conbination pills also contain estrogen as well as progestin. Combination pills usually work by stopping a womans ovaries from releasing eggs, better knon as ovulation. Progestin-only pills also prevent ovulation, but in a much different way. These pills thicken the cervical mucus, thus allowing no sperm to join together with the egg. Both of these types provide a way to prevent ovulation, and more importantly, pregnancy.
             The cost of an examination by a doctor before being able to attain the pill will most likely range from $50-$125. Depending on the type, and brand, is how much each package of pills will cost. A prescription will probably cost around $20-$35 a month.
