Anna Karenina is one of the main characters in the novel Anna Karenina written by Leo Tolstoy. She's a beautiful, elegant, married woman. Her family is in a condition of instability and destruction as the novel begins. She's a very attractive lady, men want to be with her like bees attracted to honey. Both men and women adore her beauty. Anna is described as "simple, natural, elegant, and at the same time gay and animated" (p.95).
             This novel, contains several flawed characters-- some are better but others are worse. The characters that Anna would be compared to are: her brother Stiva, her friend Betsy, her husband Karenin, and her lover Vronsky.
             First of all, Anna and Stiva both have their own families. They could be rated on the same level because neither of them is worse or better than the other in character. However, I really dislike to compare Anna and Stiva because although Anna and Stiva had committed adultery, they ended up with different punishments. The main reason is because Stiva is a man. Stiva slept with his children governess in his house, and his wife found out. He struggled for a while, trying to get forgiveness from his wife, but he committed this adultery for his own fun and pleasure. Therefore his wife forgave him and
             his position in social life remained high. On the other hand, Anna fell in love with a
             lieutenant name Vronsky. She was "in love" with him. She had a flaming passion burning inside her for this men she deeply cared for. In return, after her affair, she was kicked out of her position in her social circle, humiliated by others, and lost her precious son. She had to trade and sacrifice a lot of things just because she chose to follow her heart and passion. She did a thing that no one else, even her brother was able to do for love.
