It almost seems crazy to even ask whether or not the government should be involved in these areas but the fact is many people do. The republicans party "the party of the people". Would choose to eliminate such interventions simply to decrease the size of government. They would site the many allocations made by government, spending larger amounts on research for products that would help a few than on products that would help many. Should AIDS research receive more government funds than cancer research?
