             The first main Taiwan Strait crisis took place on September 3, 1954. The Chinese army tried to take the Dachen islands. Under US pressure, Taiwan is obliged to admit its defeat but keep Quemoy and Matsu islands. In March 1955, the Chinese Army (PLA) stopped the bombardments.
             The second Taiwan Strait Crisis occurred in August 23, 1958, with a bombardment of Quemoy. They stopped in November with the help of the USA to provide ROC in missiles and aircrafts, so PRC did not want to attack US interests. Even if the USA supported Taiwan in this crisis, we have to note that they refused a Chang Kai Shek plan to bomb mainland strategic points.
             At the beginning of the 80¡s and the announcement by PRC that they stop bombing Quemoy and Matsu, the clashes between both sides have ceased, even if PRC run some missile tests in 1995 and 1996. They realized all the interests at stake from an economic point of view, and the exchanges between them started to growth.
