Hanna than the inspiration she takes from Nana. It is her teacher who tells Hanna that it is good to enjoy a movie but it is important to know where reality and real life takes over. Although Hanna is told this by probably the only positive influence in her life, she still needs to experience what it really means in her own life. Hanna goes through many experiences similar to Nana's before she fully understands what this advice means.
             Hanna's search for identity truly begins when she first sees Vivre Sa Vie. Hanna's life often parallels Nana's life. As Hanna begins to take control of her own life she often envisions herself as Nana. She does and tries many of the same things as Nana did. She tires smoking, puffing and standing just as Nana did. At her brother's band practice, she dances about, twisting and turning just like Nana did in the bar. Hanna even pretends that she is hearing the same music as Nana does while she dances. When Hanna runs away, she becomes a prostitute for a night, she even struggles and turns her head so the man cannot kiss her, just as Nana did when she first became a prostitute. This is obvious because of the cutting from Hanna's mimic actions in Emporte-Moi, to Nana's orignal actions in Vivre Sa Vie. As Hanna experiences all these things we also see Nana go through the same experience.
