Cultural Movement

The Controversy over "Economic Crisis Leads to Scapegoating of Ethnic Chinese" is an issue which I am torn between two arguments.
The first issue, which I think is in part Indonesia's fault, is the fact that their currently has dropped so quickly and they blame it on the Chinese community. Now that the currency has gone down the prices of common goods went up. Now that prices have gone up, the people in Indonesia are rioting with the Chinese storekeepers that sell the food. Some of these types of common food are; rice, sugar, cooking oil, etc. The troops that were sent to help stop the rioting weren't even telling the people of the town what the reason was for them to have to pay higher prices for food. I also think that the troops should have handled this situation in a different manner then they did. I think they should of made it more clear to people what was going on and why they were paying higher prices, and not scapegoating their problems on the Chinese.
The second issue that came to my attention is the fact that the Indonesian government discriminated the Chinese for many years by, not letting them go to state universities and by not giving them civil services. Now after all of that, the people of the cities that were affected by this tragedy are discriminating the Chinese culture even more, by blaming them for the drop in Indonesian currency and rioting there stores.
In conclusion I think that the Indonesian government should stop blaming their own problems on another culture just because they lives in that community with them. I also think that the Chinese people should speak up if they are being discriminated against and try and get some justice.
