In the story he speaks of accompanying young Edith to the store to purchase items. Edith explains how she can't imagine what it must have been like for a woman living back in Bellamy's time to have gone from store to store in order to shop for goods and make purchases. Bellamy is in shock that a woman could go to one store and find all of the items that are needed and be on with her day. Personally, as a woman who shops frequently, I find it very difficult and annoying to have to go from store to store to find what it is that I am looking for. I can appreciate the future of shopping that is depicted here and I would gladly love to find myself in Edith's position of being able to find what I need and continue the day tending to more important activities.
