Legalizing Abortion

             There is a variety of opinions surrounding abortion. It is one of those hard hitting issues being handed to the government to decipher. Many religious groups would testify that abortion is a disgrace to human morality. However, there are some positive aspects to the availability of some types of abortion. These forms of this procedure can be extremely helpful to mothers. A long history of abortion also supports the reputation of abortion clinics and women's facilities. In society today, abortion is a common practice that contributes to the welfare of the world we live in.
             Controversy aside, abortion is a medical procedure often chosen among those women who decide that the birth of a baby is dangerous to the baby or themselves. This could include many different circumstances. For instance, young women who become pregnant may not be financially or emotionally capable of supporting a child. A statistic from the Center of Disease Control and Prevention showed that one-fifth of abortions occurred in women nineteen years or younger. The young women who choose to abort are trying to decide what is right for their well being.
             Many ancient civilizations discovered and practiced their own forms of abortion. Primitive communities were known to use specific herbs, tools and pressure techniques in order to induce abortion. In Chinese, Greek, Egyptian and Roman customs abortion was a crucial form of population control. Around the world there were some differentiations in the practices of certain cultures. In the past, the concepts and ideals surrounding abortion remained strikingly similar. However, the morals in modern society have changed greatly throughout the centuries.
