             Today, people are living in a technological advanced world, filled with medical breakthroughs, space travel, as well as computer advancements. Throughout the years, people have been rejoicing in our inventions and our evolution. So, how is it that with theses 'advancements' there is such disasters in the world; nuclear weapons, poverty, as well as diseases wiping out entire nations? How is it that even though we have conquered many obstacles as a human race, the ideas of insecurity, the downward spiral of our economy and the ever growing military conflicts of our nations rule our society? The more people grow, the more highly denser our cities and countries become. With this high rate population come the feelings of isolation, of loneliness. Karl Marx truly believed that it is because of our work habits and because of the greed filled world in which we live, the idea, or theory, of alienation occurs.
             . The most common definition of alienation is that is an undesirable place or condition in which a human being is in. Yet, through Marxism, the theory of alienation is that the situation of people who are prevented from realizing their full human potential, or the situation in which people's labor does not belong to them in any way. Marx believes that alienation is rooted in the material word, that it meant loss of control, namely the control of labor. Marx's belief was that everyone had their own human potential but due to capitalism, people were out to work as if they were machinery, each having only one particular job and having to stick with this job. Marx stated that because of our ways and the conditions in which we work, our bodies, minds and daily lives are greatly affected in a negative way. The worker's labor was a part of his external world, not a part of his true potential; instead of developing free mental and physical energy, the worker scars his flesh and ruins his mind.
