There is even evidence suggesting children with one or more homosexual parent will grow up with more acceptance for diversity. They will be psychologically and emotionally stronger because of their lifestyle. Most of the problems such children face are no different than problems faced by children with heterosexual parents. Such as teasing, struggling with friends, parents or school, and trying to discover their own self-identity. "All children have issues with their parents, and it's not going to be any different for gay parents, it's part of the experience of being in a family" (Lisa Bennett qtd. in The Advocate 10-1-02, pg.13). Therefore, if same-sex couples were allowed to adopt in all states, many more children would be taken out of their unstable lives in foster homes. They would be given a stable, loving home and would not suffer as many emotional problems.
             Luckily, it seems, "the trend is turning in favor of gay families"(Lisa Bennett qtd. in The Advocate 10-1-02, pg. 13). Recently, a study was conducted with 895 United States adoption agencies. The study found that 60% of agencies now accept applications from lesbians and gay men, and 40% have actually placed children with gay or lesbian parents. Of the responding agencies, 19% said they looked for homosexual adoptive parents or advertised themselves as "gay friendly" (USA TODAY).
