What a timely book Fan Etiquette is at the present moment. Given the recent rash fan behavior I applaud all the authors who contributed to the publishing of the wonderful book. Just the other week we had a star basketball player possibly lose his future because an over zealous fan ran on the court to celebrate and accidentally hurt him to the degree that he may never get the chance to play basketball again. The ACC is presently in a debate on the recent events of fans running on the court because of wining games against their league rivals. I am appalled at the way fans are treated when they go to football games and support their teams, they live in fear of being attacked and degraded simply for being aligned with the other team.
             Fan Etiquette offers some very good insights to a problem that can get out of have very quickly. If we to lived in a perfect world I would say that all fans an spectators should read a copy of the book. Not only would they have the chance to read the horror stories such Steve Kerr being taunted by fans after his father was killed they would get valuable tools on how to act and react to winning and losing and also the most important issue, and that is being role models to our young athletes and future fans. I am always reminded of what the word fan is derived from and that is fanatic, people have just gone crazy with the way they dole out support for out teams. This has made our society dependant on winning, which in turn puts undo stress on caches, players and parents. This is why athletes take steroids, coaches cheat and parents attack other parents. The increase need to win at all cost makes us lose all perspective of what sports is really about.
             This book could help so many people realize that sports is just that sport and how we act in front of our kids and each other helps to shape what the younger generation will do when they go out to watch a sporting event. Do we want a society
