Some people believe that dolphins may be more intelligent than humans. Others think that they are not intelligent at all. It is quite possible they are as intelligent if not more intelligent. What exactly is intelligence though? Intelligence is the capacity to acquire and apply knowledge, and the faculty of thought and reason(Think Quest Team 1). When you look at dolphins they look somewhat intelligent
             All species have some intelligence in that they can communicate with other members of their species. Compared to our intelligence though most species fall short except for a select few. The most note worthy of these select are dolphins and apes. How do we know they are intelligent? Simple biologists have tested their intelligence. Biologists have been trying to find ways to test the intelligence or animals for years and have just recently began to make progress.
             In the past biologists have tried many things to measure the intelligence of other species. They at one point thought that brain size, the brain mass to body weight ratio, could mean intelligence. This was not very accurate because other animals, such as cows, have similar brain mass to body weight ratios as humans, but they are not thought to be as intelligent as humans.
             Another way biologists tried to measure animal intelligence was by using intelligence tests. This does not work either because humans are impressed by things like being able to do mental arithmetic and other such things. We do not nesscecarly know if dolphins could do any of the applications we can do. So therefore making an intelligence test for another species is out of the question.
