             To begin, I would like flashback to the Odysseus' encounter with the Cyclops, Polyphemus (Book 9). As we all know, Odysseus and his men were trapped in Polyphemus' cave. The crafty Odysseus thought of plan where he was able to blind the Cyclops and trick him in order for Odysseus and his men to escape the island. As they were escaping the island, Odysseus' ego got the best of him when he then said, "They lumbered off, but laughter filled my heart to think how nobody's name-my great cunning stroke-had duped them one and all" (Book 9 460 ff). Now granted, Odysseus was able to escape with most of his men intact. However, it was not smooth sailing for them afterwards.
