Dangers of Smoking

             Every year, 440,000 Americans die from cancers caused by smoking. Cigarette smokers have twice the risk of a heart attack than non-smokers. Also, smokers have 2 to 4 times the chance to get lung cancer, than non-smokers. Smoking causes different types of cancer. You can develop lung cancer, cancer of the larynx, oral cavity, esophagus, and in the bladder. Smoking can also lead to amputation, caused by nicotine. Nicotine causes low blood circulation. Also, cigarette smoke can cause impotence in men. Lung cancer is the leading cause of death among men and woman. Smoking is responsible for an estimated 87% of lung cancer deaths among Americans. It is also in fault of about 30% of all cancer deaths every year in the United States. Smoking also contributes to heart and lung disease, and stroke. In fact, cigarette smoking is the most preventable cause of death in the United States. Cancer from smoking is caused by the more than 60 substances that are found in cigarettes. Cigarette smoke also contains an estimated 4,000 chemical agents. These substances include tar, lead, and carbon monoxide.
             The exposure to cigarette smoke can cause certain diseases, which I have mentioned earlier. You develop these cancers, or diseases, due to how long you have been around smoking. The age that you began to smoke is one of the leading reasons why you develop cancer. The number of cigarettes a person smokes per day is a big reason why you develop these illnesses, too. But, the earlier you quit, the less chances you will develop anything due to smoking. There is research that shows people that quit before they reach the age of 35 can lower their risk of dying from any smoking-related cancers.
             Anybody who smokes can become addicted to nicotine, no matter how young you are. Nicotine is the only legal drug that has the ability to kill a person by stopping their breathing muscles, which may cause cancer in the lung, or emphysema. When you first begin ...
