from 1906 called "La instrucción de la mujer" (The education of women), shows how, at such an early age, she was already aware of the limitations women faced in obtaining and education and living in the world of their time.
             In 1909 she fell in love with a man named Romelio Ureta . He was a young railway worker and after a short relationship he committed suicide because he was found guilty of embezzlement. His death left a huge impact on the Chilean poet and the theme of death shows up more than once in her writings.
             Mistral continued to educate herself even after being denied schooling, and in 1910 received her teaching certification by passing an exam. Thus began her teaching career. She quickly moved up the educational system, and many different teaching jobs took her all over Chile.
