Philosphy of education

             Only a passionate learner can be a teacher. I want to be a partner with my students and parents to set an example that learning is a joyful and collaborative enterprise. My philosophy will be forever changing, always under review and revision while incorporating new ideas and experiences.
             However, my philosophy will always reflect what I know about how children learn and construct new knowledge. I respect and encourage children's freedom to explore and will make certain that children have ample opportunity to play because play is the most meaningful work of a child.
             Each child has the right to learn and to be included in the atmosphere of a classroom. All children have the right to be treated equally despite special needs. Accommodation for children with special needs is high priority. Each child is unique. Children as individuals will learn differently from each other child, so style of teaching is important. Be open minded, sincere and reliable with every child and family. I must reach each parent, so no child is left behind. I want each of my students to have the opportunity to explore and create. When a student can connect with the materials, constructing knowledge becomes more meaningful.
             The community must be a strong foundation upon which children can build a future upon. I cherish community and my involvement in it. It is my responsibility to be engaged in my community, as a teacher, mentor, or as an advocate. It is my responsibility to make a difference. Each community needs an active advocate at all times. I hope to continue supporting children outside of the classroom as well. As a teacher, my responsibility is not only to the students in my classroom but to the parents and members of the community as well.
