Failure of Parents would be a number one reason for this any student to fail in reading. The parents aren't involved in the students school lessons. Parents are often so caught up in their own day to day lives that usually the children of high school age are often left alone a lot and left with to much independence. The parents don't take the time to make sure that the students class assignments are done or even done correctly or that they actually understand the lesson that is being taught that particular week. Some parents though are just low or barely middle class with no higher education themselves and they don't expect much for their children and think well I made it without an education I shouldn't worry about my child or children. The student is brought up in an environment that doesn't support a higher education, therefore the child isn't motivated to do any better in school than he/she is.
             Failure of the school systems is another key role in the quality of the students learning abilities. The school systems are often to crowded with children for every child to receive enough individual attention to thrive in school. There are not enough teachers assistants to help the teachers out with their class load. The teachers assistant helps out a great deal and they pay attention to the children's work closer and study habits. In the more populated areas, the larger school systems are focused on academics. The athletes are often skated through school so that they can play on the football or basketball team so that the team can make it to state or whatever the case may be.
             Failure of the students themselves. The students do not receive the support or motivation from family members or role models to realize the importance of reading and writing to have a good education to thrive in life.
