"B-More Careful" is a novel by Shannon Holmes. This book is filled with suspense, excitement, and never ending laughs. This book kept me flipping the pages from one chapter to the next.
This book is about a clique of girls called the "Pussy Pound". The leader of this clique is Netta. Netta grew up with no father and a dope fiend mother. She had to learn how to make it on her own. She learned to make it on her by using her looks and her body to get what she wanted from men. I mean anything she wanted money, cars, and jewelry. One day Netta met this boy named Black. Black is a local drug dealer, who eventually becomes a big time drug dealer. Black falls in love with Netta, then he finds out Netta is only after his money. To seek the ultimate revenge, Black beats and rapes her until she almost dies. After Black's father got shot he had to help out his family the best way he could. He decided to sell drugs. He met Baltimore's major drug dealer Nard. Nard got him hooked on selling drugs. He uses drugs anyway he can just to make ends meet.
This book was excellent. There wasn't anything I didn't like about this book. I liked the book because I (as an African American) can relate to the situations in the book, because that's how were stereotyped. This book can really teach you a lot. I learned how it really is in the hood and how hard it is to survive. I recommend this book to high school students. This book contains some sex, inappropriate language, and drugs. Don't take my word for it, buy it and check it out.
