Just like the party example you waste time, energy, and to top that off it makes you look bad in front of your chain of command and your peers. It is a solders duty to be in the right place. Another example in durning war time. People lifes depend on you and having your act together with your head on straight being at the right place can help save lives and help win the war. Finally its not worth the trouble that comes along with it. Failure to obey orders can be punished under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. The punishment can be reprimand, forfeiture of pay and allowances, fine, restriction to specified limits, and the list goes on the worst being bad conduct dishcharg or death. The right place helps of accountability you never know what can happen like a deployment or something like that. The right place can help out.
Be at the right place at the right time to easy, huh? You can be at the right place but if its at the wrong time its pointless you have done missed the train. For example, you have to pick up some MRE's for your solders. It's been a long day so you set out to go get them. You have been given the place and time to go pick them. Being that you were careless you thought that you can play a couple more hands of spades. After the game is done you set out in the five tone to go pick them up. It turns out there are no more MRS left to feed your solders. Right place, that's great...wrong time your out of luck. Now you get to go back and tell your solders why you cant follow instructions. You have failed your self and your solders. It's to easy to be on time that's why we have clocks to help us out. You can miss formations, chow, mail, and a good time just for not being on time.
