Russell's theory provides us with a way to over come the need to find a unique salient object of reference in order to decide the truth value of certain sentences.
             I have now shown what Russell believes is a satisfactory way of finding out the truth value of sentences which have reference to objects that don't exist. If there is no object of reference then the truth conditions of the sentence are still met, but the sentence gives a false truth value in Russell's theory. This is where Strawson comes in. He believes that there is a problem with how Russell's theory of descriptions works. Strawson rejects the conclusion of Russell's theory of descriptions, and believes we should approach the problem in a much different way.
