They immediately attempt to pass laws that wear away personal and private liberties. The perpetrators of the Columbine Massacre would not have been stopped by stricter gun laws, there is no stopping someone who has spent months planning a massacre. Laws intend to keep guns out of criminals hands instead they keep them from thousands of people who could use them to defend themselves and others, often without a shot being fired.
