was unpredictable, his brothers never knew what side he was on. He always had to be
watched. There came a point says Costain, that there were so many complaints from the
Queen and her kinsmen against Clarence, that Edward IV, had him prosecuted. Edward
came to court and prosecuted against him. The ruling was that Clarence deserved the
death penalty and it was shown that Richard was against the verdict. It was not Richard
that had Clarence executed; but it was an act of Parliament.
We also see in Shakespeare that Richard is accused with the murder of Henry VI
and his son, Prince Edward. Shakespeare says that Richard killed Edward at Tewkesbury,
after the battle was already won. Yet Sources from that time say that Prince Edward was
killed during the battle of Tewkesbury. Richard is accused of killing Henry VI after the
Battle of Tewkesbury, in the London Tower.
This is not true. On May 21, Richard and the other Yorkists return from the
Battle of Tewkesbury, including Henry VI who was sent to the Tower. That night, King
Edward called for a huge meeting discussing country matters, where of course where
Richard was to attend. This meeting lasted all night long. Early morning, May 22,
Richard left to Kent to take care of rebels who were beginning to start up there. Henry
was declared dead on May 23, and Richard didn't come back until May 25. It is not
