The story happenned during King Arthur's time. A knight was riding by and saw a woman by herself. The knight raped the woman. When the King found out, the King sentenced the knight to death by beheading him. The Queen and the other ladies wanted the king to "exercise his grace" so the King passed the case to the Queen. She told the knight that he could have his life only if he could answer the question "What is the thing most women desire?" He had a year and a day to find out. He went door to door searching every coast, country, and town, but no one answered the same. His time was finally up, and he was on his return home when he spotted the fairies. He went to them to find the answer, but they disappeared. There was only an old woman crouched upon the green. The old women told him she had the answer to "what women want" and would give it to him only if he agreed to do what she said, and he agreed. He went to court to be judged before the Queen. His answer was, "A woman wants the self same sovereignty over her husband as over her lover, and master him; he must not be above her." His life was saved, but now he had to follow the old lady's wish which was to be her husband. He was forced to wed, and he married her in private and was very sad. She gives him a lesson about poverty and the elderly. She then had him make a choice if he would accept her for who she is or not. He accepted her, and, then, because he gave her the power, the old woman turned into a beautiful, young woman. They lived happily ever after.
