Creations of Humans

             If your grandparents have ever sat you down and told you an ancient story dealing with supernatural beings, or a story relating to the aspects of the ancient world, you probably have just heard a myth. Myths are all around us and they are sometimes hard to distinguish from truth. Many people believe different things regarding how early man was created. I'm going to talk about four of those well-known myths.
             The first one is known as the Enuma Elish. This is an epic of the Akkad people of Mesopotamia dating back to almost 2000 B.C.E. Tiamat, a goddess, calls upon Marduk to defeat the old order. On page 5, paragraph 2, it says according to the Enuma Elish, the victorious gods created humans. These humans were said to have been created by the defeated leaders of the rebels. The created humans were to devote themselves to their creators. The Enuma Elish is said to have given humans a sense of direction and power to the holy calls of people.
             Rigveda is a myth about the origin of humans. The Rigveda is a Hindu religious tradition dating back to 1000 B.C.E. It describes the unknowable qualities of life. It simply states that they don't know how humans were created, that the Gods came later than the creation of man. They don't know when man came into being.
             Purusha-Sakta is another Hindu myth of creation. Purusha-Sakta says the god's created the word by sacrifice and dismemberment of a giant man, Purusha. This myth believes humans are part of the nature. However, humans are created with different qualities, and in different castes. This established India's well knowing caste system.
             Probably the most well-known myth of creation is told in The Bible. On page 6, paragraph 1, it talks about how God began from nothing and in five days created heaven and earth.
