"Without a man around to provide a strong role model, young fatherless teens take to the streets where drug dealers, dope runners, or gang members become their role models"(Stevenson 78). Parents also need to watch what they say to or around there children. "Many criminologists are convinced that the cruel violent teenager has learned unpleasant characteristics from the parents so if children are surrounded by violence and brutality they will behave in a similar way" (Stevenson 72). Children are always listening to the things you say, so the parent must watch the things that comes out of there mouth. "If it is true that violence breeds violence and that violence by parents is the root cause of violence against parents, then the obvious solution is to find ways to reduce violence in the family and the culture at large"(Wormse 112). So therefore, if the parent or parents are very violent people that fight a lot or have anger problems then the child will most likely have them too. "The crime rate among juveniles from single-parent families is high, because single-parent families are more likely to be poor than a two-parent families" (Greenhaven 45).
             Teenagers have too much free time. If students or teenagers are involved in extra curriculum activities then there would be less violence caused by teens. "Most violent criminals begin their lawless careers while teenagers and young adults and exhibit their violent streaks by age 10 if boys and by age 13 if girls" (Lang 12). Even a job would decrease the crime rate for teens. Most teens wouldn't want a job because they don't like being told what to do.
