In the book The Shelter of Each Other, by Mary Pipher, she gives some explanation on what she believes is leading to the weakening of families today. She believes that there are five areas that are leading to the downfall of families today. These five areas: are New Tools, TV, Advertising, Money, and Values. The problem with New Tools is that as we progress so does technology and this is a good and bad thing. Technology tends to make our lives easier and more secluded. Instead of going out and working with other people we can do most things on our own in the comfort of our homes. This has lead to less interaction with the people around us which makes us less connected. The problem with TV is not just one problem but a whole bag full of problems.
