In the book Lord of the Flies there is two main points, civilization and the other is savagery, as they get stranded on the island they have to fend for them selves and make up there own rules to live by since there is no parents or authority around which is trying to make it civilized. They have to set up there own shelter like a home to sleep and keep from the storms in. They make a conch shell there main object of the island. On the island if you have the conch you get to speak, just like being of more power like a president in a normal civil life or a representative.
             Even though the book only talks about kids on the island that survived the crash, there is also an adult captain. Though he is very hurt he has a fever and not really conscious, they lay him down under a sheet to try to get him back into shape to take care of the kids. But once they notice he isn't getting better they start to do things on there own. They make fire and some of the kids try and hunt and the hunting begins because of the savagery inside of all the boys. The fire always doesn't keep going and at first they get a fire going to try and make a smoke signal to be rescued. But it ends up almost starting the whole island on fire but they put it out.
             So they are all trying to survive and as the book goes on the kids hunt more and more and go for the pig because they understand that killing isn't so bad. Then one of the young boys goes out on his own and into a cave, as he's in there something grabs onto him and makes a weird screeching sound which scares and him and makes him wonder what it could have been. The kid tells Jack which is the main hunter who started the hunts and group, they go and check it out and hear it and get scarred and don't even bother checking I out. Then one night around the fire they are all chanting because of the killing of there first pig which is food
