             Because he was far from his father, a man he truly admired and was affected by, Penn never knew the conditions his father was going through. He would hear rumors from the townspeople and one day, he heard that his father was imprisoned by Cromwell who now ruled England. They decided to move to Ireland because as long as Cromwell was in power, the admiral knew he would never be safe in England.
             A letter arrived to them saying that Cromwell had died, Admiral Penn was a member of the new parliament, and William could now attend Oxford University.
