Internet dating okay

Everyone looks at Internet dating as a bad thing. It's only a bad thing if you don't take it seriously. See, this Christmas I just met my girlfriend of 14 months. We'll call her "KK". We drove all the way to a small town in Missouri to meet her. She is a great girl and we clicked instantly, just as we had when we first met on the Internet. Meeting her was the best decision I ever made.
People need to take a different approach to meeting people from the Internet. We took it very slow. First swapping pictures and talking to each other's friends. Then for my birthday she sent a video all about her and where she lives. Then soon after I sent one to her as well. Most people figure after talking for one month they are ready to meet. Then they are just another Internet horror story.
Obviously, you have to be skeptical about who is telling the truth. It was a while before I even gave KK my phone number. But that was our key to knowing we were committed, taking it slow. From the first email, to our first hug we made sure we knew what we were getting into. That is how you know an Internet relationship can work.
Now others wonder how can you last 14 months before meeting. You have to be desperate. Just kidding. You have to enjoy the person you are talking to. I can talk to KK for hours about our life. We have so much in common that we are 100 percent comfortable with just plain talking. We enjoy each other's company. How did we get become so close mentally? We were originally attracted to the physical aspect of each other. Its just the way things work. Your first try isn't going to be perfect. But if meeting people through school or work isn't working for you, don't be afraid of the Internet. People around the world have found their perfect match on the Internet. I should know, I'm one of them.
