Their goal was to get Magwitch out of the country with Pip. The interesting thing is that the first time that Pip realized that Magwitch was his benefactor, he was disgusted. Pip disliked Magwitch so much. But as time had passed, Pip realized that Magwitch is a good person, and therefore, he wanted to help him. Pip got to know Magwitch and even stated that he had gotten softer since the first time he met him in the Temple. With the plan that was described in the quotation, Pip is willing to give everything to save Magwitch. Pip plans the escape with the help of Herbert, but in the end, their plan failed. The results of the planned escape were that Pip is ill and Magwitch is dying in prison. Pip visited and stayed with Magwitch until he died in prison.
             With all the pain and suffering, Pip still has the goodness to visit, forgive, and save Miss Havishman. This is the third incident that shows that Pip is caring and a good person.
