I do not have any younger siblings that are extremely younger than me, and neither do I have children of my own. I have babysat all my cousins since the age of eleven. I have babysat everyone from newborns to teenagers. When I first started babysitting at the age of eleven I did not understand the purpose of reading to a child at an early age.
             Three years ago, I began to take care of my cousin, Jacob, when he was just a newborn. I would read to him and at the same time help my cousin, Jonathon his older brother. When I would help Jonathon with his homework, Jacob would try to take the book, because he wanted to read like us.
             Now that Jacob is going to be three years old, he is talking very clear, and he tries to read a book to us. Most books Jacob tries to read are books that we have read to him many times to him. So he has these books memorized word for word, or how we read it to him.
             I am glad that I have had the chance to take care of someone at the newborn age, and that I have had the experience with him at that age. So when I have my own child or children, I will know the importance of teaching a child at an early age to read. I will always have book in my home, so that my children will not have any excuse to not having anything to read. I hope that everyone could have the opportunity to take care of someone, like I did for a long period of time. I am glad that my aunt allowed me to take care of her children at that age, and that she knew I would take the time to help them and teach them, as she did when she took care of me at that age.
