Now, as every man back then knew, no person had ever even been able to travel to the land where the Fleece was, everyone had died on the trip. Jason, being still a bit headstrong, immediately agreed to fetch the fleece right back. So he contacted Chiron, who had incidentally trained every other major Greek hero (how convenient) and asked him to get all the other heroes together for a big quest, filled with wine, women, and glory. Well, every hero back then was keen on all of these benefits, so they all came to Jason, and helped him build a great ship to go to Colchia, to retrieve the Fleece of gold. I mean everyone came, even the big leaguer's, like Hercules and Theseus. They named their ship the Argo and placed a figurehead of Hera on the prow. So equipped, they set off rowing, which was the fastest way of getting around back then.
